About Us
Cindy - Our sole potter!
Cindy was born in Atlanta, GA and moved to Mississippi with her family in elementary school. After graduating high school, her family moved back to Georgia where she ultimately graduated from LaGrange College in LaGrange, GA. She married her husband, Michael (current Kiln Master and Web Master) in 1994 and together, they have two wonderful children, Cameron and Ryan who are both in college. Cindy is an amazing cook and loves to decorate. Her pottery is based on her own inspiration for decorating style and colors to meet classic and modern decor.
Cindy's Pottery Journey
In 2019, Cindy wanted to try her hand at learning how to throw pottery. She started at various continuing education classes taught by the county. By late 2019, she was taking two classes per week but was yearning for more....then the pandemic hit and the classes were canceled. She wanted to keep throwing so she purchased a wheel, put it in the back of the garage and started practicing routinely. Then she found kiln space to rent at a local studio and started the complete cycle throughout the summer. Unfortunately, the studio wasn't able to survive the full impact of the pandemic and it closed in the fall of 2020. Another barrier to her success just meant that she would need a full studio and her own kiln. Today, Cindy has a complete studio in the basement of her home and finds herself throwing , firing and cleaning almost daily.
The Black Barn?
You would think there's a Black Barn in the mix given the name, but it's aspirational at this time. Maybe some day, she'll have some land with an actual Black Barn where she can operate her studio. Until then, she's happy keeping the dream alive!
